President distributed awards on June 26,2013 International Day Against Drug Abuse


President of India,Pranab Mukherjee presented the National Award for Outstanding services in the field of prohibition of Alcoholism and various types of drug substances available in the market on June 26,2013 that is the occassion of International Day against Drug Abuse and illegal Trafficking at function at Vigyan Bhavan,New Delhi.


The Manipur based Youth Development Organization (YDO) and the Charba Grama Panchayat of Uttrakhand are among the five recipients of first national Award for Prevention and Stoppage of Alcoholism and drug abuse.

President addressed the mob at function saying that drug usage is psycho-social-media problem requiring a holistic approach from prevention and rehabilitation.

On December 7,1987,UN General Assembly decided to observe June 26 as International Day against Drug Abuse and illegal Trafficking as an indication of its determination to strengthen action and cooperation to achieve its target of an international society free from drugs.

The theme of the year was,'Make Health Your New High in Life,Not Drugs'.
