India Grabs 1st Place in Junior Asian Wrestling Championship

India Tops Medal Tally in Junior Asian Wrestling Chmapionship

On June 16,2013 India leads the medal tally by winning 17 medals in the overall tournament.India managed to win three gold,five silver and nine bronze medals in the tournament.


When tournament was started?

Tournament started from June 13 to June 16,2013 in Phuket,Thailand.On June 16,2013,that is on the last day of the tournament Pradeep Kumar (60 kg) and Sumit (96 kg), won gold in Junior Asian Wrestling Championship in Phuket,Thailand.Vikas (66 kg) and Pradeep Kumar (74 kg) captured silver medals after they lost the final sessions at Saphan Hin Indoor Sports Complex.

Mandeep (55 kg) secured Bronze medal in the Championship.Achieving two silvers and one bronze on the final day of the tournament,India Finished at the Top of  the freestyle team rankings of the championship.

Whole Championship was held under new FILA (Federation Internationale Desn Luttes Associees) rules.The rule is also known as International Federation of Associated Wrestling Styles.The new Wrestling rules were approved by the FILA bureau and presented at the FILA extraordinary Congress in Moscow on May 18,2013.New rules are as follows:

1. The time and periods of the bout(2x3 minutes).

2. Cumulative score instead of the best of three format.

3. Procedure for passivity (the rules governing Greco-Roman and Freestyle are distinctly different).

4. Points for take down.

As per decision by the FILA Bureau and the Extraordinary Congress,these modification are enforced immediately in all competitions.
